A Tree Planted by the Water

Hello loyal readers!

I come to you today confessing that once again I don't have a very interesting post to make. I have been to drama camp, met with friends, done some cooking, worked on a quilt, gone to a local amusement park, and much more, but do you think I could bring a camera or blog about these things? No sir. Instead, I am left to think up something inspirational or profound to say about the nicer photographs that I have taken "recently" (as I recall it was about a month ago) on a walk in one of my favorite parks.

So I looked at my collection of recent pictures and found several of water, lillies, and a tree growing along the bank of a stream. Then I flipped my Bible open to the concordence to see what I could make of my selection. Being to proud to make the simple (although profound) connection between Living Water and water, and remembering that I have posted about lillies and Solomon and his glory before, I decided on the tree planted by the water. I also remembered that a recent Casting Crowns song has a line talking about trees and living water, so I figured that that must have Biblical inspiration somewhere. I was right, and I found it in Psalms (of course. I should have guessed!) Psalm 1:1-3 says

Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the
wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night.

He is like a tree
planted my streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.

Anybody who delights to love the Lord and His ways and His will will be like this tree, continually fed by Jesus Christ the living water. Having been saved, they will produce fruit as a sign of their salvation. All that he does will, of course, prosper, because is he not doing what he delights in, which is to do the Lord's will? And the Lord's will always prospers, one way or another. That is my little bit of wisdom and and image to share with ya'll today. Rather, it is God's wisdom and image of His own tree and stream that I am sharing. In any case, that's all for today. Perhaps soon I'll post about what I've been doing. But for now, goodbye, and be blessed!
